Interest in air quality has been documented back to the 16th century – with coal burning as a source of heat in urban environments.

Air pollution, particularly in cities, is certainly not a new problem. Back in the Middle Ages the use of coal in cities such as London was beginning to escalate. The problems of poor urban air quality even as early as the end of the 16th century are well documented.

In the UK the Industrial Revolution during the 18th and 19th centuries was based on the use of coal. Industries were often located in towns and cities, and together with the burning of coal in homes for domestic heat, urban air pollution levels often reached very high levels. During foggy conditions, pollution levels escalated and urban smogs (smoke and fog) were formed. These often brought cities to a halt, disrupting traffic but more dangerously causing death rates to dramatically rise. The effects of this pollution on buildings and vegetation also became obvious. The 1875 Public Health Act contained a smoke abatement section to try and reduce smoke pollution in urban areas.

2. Soccer moms driving their SUVs and cows farting aren’t going to destroy the Earth.

We’ve had ice ages and periods of intense heat for millenia. They’re whining about carbon emissions when plants breathe the stuff and it makes them grow faster. Carbon credits anyone?

This is just an excuse to push an agenda, follow the money to find the shameless profiteers.

Umm… Pollution? The “climate” as in “weather” is changing our city’s atmosphere. I live in San Diego and our city is rated on the top 15 most “ozone polluted” cities, we’re number 8. Pollution is divided in 3 types of pollutions, short-term pollution, year round particle pollution, and as introduced earlier ozone pollution.

Climate Change is obviously a natural occurrence so how can this fact be denied
Do they deny natural climate change the way they deny the medieval warm period and other thoroughly documented cooling and warming periods simply because these periods were natural and crucially before we had factories or cars. These people seem to deny the natural processes of the planet!

Methane is released when someone farts. Some proclaim methane contributes to the theory of climate change. So should farting be considered air pollution? If carbon taxes are started should we have to pay to fart?
I’m not proclaiming global warming is real or fake. That is why I put the word “Theory” in front of it because that’s all it is a “theory”.
