What climate and topographical factors intensify air pollution in CLayton County, Ga?

Question: What climate and topographical factors intensify air pollution in CLayton County, Ga?
I’m supose to find information on how to intensify and reduce air pollution. I’m not having any luck.

Answer:

Answer by Observer in MD
The climate of Clayton County is characterized by mild winters and hot, humid summers. During the summers, much of the precipitation may occur during thunderstorms.

Clayton County is located on the Piedmont Plateau and consists of fairly flat upland dissected by the Flint River and its tributaries.

Air pollution is exaccerbated by the high summer temperatures and abundant sunshine. Development has removed many forested areas, which adds to the high temperatures and removes plant surface areas that could remove some air pollutants.

Hi there. Basic experiments can be carried out using petroleum jelly (e.g Vaseline) on a glass microscope slide or white card and placing them in several locations to see what particulate matter sticks to them. Other than that I don’t have any decent suggestions.

Usually the four main pollutants that are monitored in towns and cities are:
1. particulate matter (usually called PM10 as it refers to particles of less than 10 microns in diameter as these are the ones that stick in your lungs)
2. Nitrogen dioxide (causes breathing difficulties)
3. Ozone (causes damage to buildings)
4. Sulphur dioxide (causes breathing difficulties)

2, 3 and 4 require diffusion tubes and lab analysis that is usually out of reach for members of the public.

I’m in the UK and there are websites like www.airquality.co.uk that show the air pollution levels in your area.

Would it be possible to put aftermarket tail pipes on cars with filter to eliminate air pollution?

Question: Would it be possible to put aftermarket tail pipes on cars with filter to eliminate air pollution?
They put on aftermarket exhaust systems to make a car perform better, so wouldn’t it make a lot of sense to do the same thing with exhaust systems with filters that remove all pollutants? I think that would be the best way to eliminate air pollution without having to get rid of all the old cars on the road. What do you guys think? Would this work? how could we impliment it? It wouldn’t even have to interfere with the gas companies so it’s seems like a win win for everyone?

Answer:

Answer by djrsxs
they already do, it’s called a catalytic converter. look it up.

Also, it still has to be somewhat freeflowing, too much back pressure is bad for the engine. So no, I don’t think this would work.
