Does recycling Really Work?
Weve been told for years to recycle but ive done research that proves its a bad Idea. And it cost 5 times more than garbage 1 ton of trash cost 12 dollars with recyling cost 64 dollars a ton pluss the polution of tansporting out of the local area to the factory and most of what you get is junk because you can make new plastic paper and other stuff for half of what the recycling plants charge i herd its good to reyuse alminum because it is in high demand right now . aI feel it is just pouint less bissey work the goverment does to keep people happy because half of it get thrown away any ways. And it also cost tax payers Billions of dollars every year

Try calming down and counting slowly…
Anyways, most recycling is a good idea, except in some cases the bottle banks. This is because many people bring their bottles 10 miles in the car to the bottle bank facility. This means that you use up more energy to get to the facility than you would save from the recyclin of the glass, unless you happened to be going that way anyways.
I agree with you
The recycling equation is not just measured in dollars and cents.
It is counted in how much of our non renewable resources are not being used. It counts in how much we have to put into landfill.
As the non renewable resources dwindle and bcome rarer, the cost of these materials goes up, making the demand for recyclables go up as well. The dollar and cents factor approaches equilibrium very quickly. In the meantime, we are learning to recyle. It took many, many years to even get to this point, and the recyling habit is still not universal. To wait until we have to recycle or die is to wait too long.
You may live on a property large enough that you can throw out all your trash in the backyard as long as you and your kids live, and still not run out of room. Of course, you may also not mind living with a mountain of garbage in your back yard. Most people do not have that kind of space, or that kind of lack of sensiblity. Many cities also do not have that kind of room.
Recycling means we can minimize the size of that mountain, perhaps not even have that mountain at all.
