Power consumption is the biggest factor that affects the environment. The second biggest factor is the computer waste generated by different businesses. There are some easy to follow guidelines that can be adopted by businesses to save the environment and decrease carbon emissions.

1) Switch off the equipment when not is use. This can reduce the energy consumption by 25 percent and switching off PCs and all electrical equipment while leaving the office can save an additional 50 percent.

2) Avoid printing emails: Read emails online and avoid unnecessary email printing to save paper and reduce printing costs.

Replace general office equipment with high energy efficient equipment. For example, use flat panel displays as an alternative to CRTs. CRTs consume more energy in comparison to flat panel displays. Replace normal bulbs with energy efficient lights.

9) Supply different bins for collecting different waste such as paper, plastic and metal and send the waste to the nearest recycling center.
