In what ways has climate change become a political issue and why?
I currently believe that climate change is real but not the effect of human activity. Why do politicians (particularly liberals) love climate change so much?
Please do not try to convince me that climate change is real or fake. That is NOT my question. Thanks!
I don’t think that the left has made it a big political issue, it has been the right. Name a left leaning politician who has made climate change a major issue. Al Gore is the only one, and he has been out of the running for anything since losing the Presidential election 9 years ago. For Obama and other Democrats it has been an issue but not a major one. It takes a back seat to the wars, health care, the economy and most other issues. It gets lip service from Democrats at best.
By contrast, Republican Senator Jim Inhofe seems to be making a career out of global warming, and most of the deniers cite mainly political blogs and conservative newspaper reports for support.
Big government. A way to tax something. Power. Whenever something does not make sense, think of two words POWER or GREED. You will usually be correct.
Global warming has never been anything other than a political issue. The liberal/left political system works by taxing and controlling the masses and they see this as a perfect opportunity.
You’re right, the earth’s climate does change (and always has) and it’s not because of human activities.
When the politicians use it to promote their agenda.
Power and money!
Have you ever heard of a solution to climate change that does not advance a very left wing agenda? One that promotes economic freedom?
On the other side, have you ever heard of government excesses being listed as a cause of global warming?
What’s not for a liberal politician to love about it? An excuse to tax people, increase government spending and power, and limit the power of the private sector, all while blaming it on the people they’re taxing. plenty of opportunities for graft too. It’s like Christmas all year long.
