Is starting an internal combustion engine considered littering?

It got me thinking after seeing a sign that read "littering – 0.00 fine". Arn’t we all littering everytime we start up our cars, lawnmowers, etc…?

    No

    Neither is passing gas

I think you are confusing littering with polluting. Your internal engine may pollute but unless things fall off it, it would not be littering.

I would only consider it littering if your internal combustion engine started dropping food wrappers, cigarette butts, & coffee cups all over the ground once it started up.

It may be ironic, but everytime I go to cut my grass, (using my gas powered lawnmower) I have to keep stopping to pick up candy wrappers, disposable cups, etc that are left blowing around by others who think that this crap just dissappears when they drop it on the ground. If I am doing that with my lawnmower running, am I still littering, or does one activity cancel the other out?

littering is when you throw something tangeable out of your car window or as you walk along the street & drop a piece of paper, ect, ect. but smoke from a lawn mower or our cars isnt tageable. just annoying. its a way of life to have a car or to have a lawnmower, so if you want to help , buy yourself an electric car or an electric mower, but be prepared to pay the price!
