Do I need to recycle my TV and computer equipment in Washington State?

The Washington State Department of Ecology is very interested in us recycling old televisions, stereos, computers, and other electronics equipment. In 2009 they will offer free recycling for consumers. But is electronics recycling in the State of Washington mandatory, or is it just recommended? In other words, if I’m a horrible person and throw my stuff in the trash, what are the consequences, if any?

Do you think the government truly had the environment and climate in mind?

The "Cash for Clunkers" program ended this week but reportedly consumers bought almost 700,000 new vehicles. DO you think this program truly replaced gas-guzzlers with vehicles that are that much more petroleum saving? Do you think the government truly had the environment and climate in mind or do you think this was just another form of bail-out for car manufacturers?

Is there such a thing? If not I wonder if one could be produced. Perhaps there would be a more appropriate title that would attract the attention of consumers and lend well to marketing.

What are the positive effects of having more oxygen in the environment?

I’m writing a research paper on Energy Efficiency. If consumers recycle, then less trees are cut down. Which ultimately means there is more oxygen produced. I want to know the positive effects of having more oxygen in the environment.

Will more be done to protect the environment under the Obama administration?

Good riddance, George W. Bush. You oil executive. Eight years of choking the environment in air and water pollution. How many more days left of Mr. Disaster? Anyway, now that Obama will be our next President, will things begin to turn around for the environment? Will more attention be paid to Global Warming? Will Americans forget about trying to get the biggest SUV on the road and purchase cars that are compact and fuel efficient? Will consumers and shareholders demand that corporations have more accountability for the environment?
