Does it take more water to deliver electricity from renewable or nonrenewable energy?
I’ve heard that it takes water to power anything, so does it take more water to deliver electricity from renewable sources(solar, wind, geothermal, tidal) or from nonrenewable sources(coal, natural gas, oil)?
Please include web sources, this is for a research project.
(Does it take any water to TRANSFER energy from sources)
I did not mean does it take water to collect energy.
What are some easy and fun ways to go green?
I do little things like re-use plastic bags, we are going to be planting food like carrot etc, I try not to use a lot of water or electricity. Does anyone know any ways that are fun and cool to go green? Prefurably not anything I’d have to buy…. Don’t answer with that stupid spam stuff!
What can you do with water from a dehumidifier (aside from dumping it down the drain) that benefits the earth?
Also, is water from a dehumidifier pure enough to drink? Or does it depend on the model…
It’s not just the electricity used, but also the fossil fuels burned to take more water out of a faucet that could’ve been taken from the dehumidifier. I know it’s insignificant, but over time it could save a lot, especially if, as with a lot of things like CFLs, everyone did it.
What is the point of water conservation?
Besides the electricity it takes for running water.
It evaporates and rains, anyway, right?
Okay, well at my school theyre having Meat Free Fridays because of the water it takes to process the meat. Is this really worth it? We can be water wise, of course, but this is overkill.
Which is more economical? Keeping a storage water heater on or turning it on once a day to shower then off?
It is a 40g water heater. I always used to turn it off at the breaker switch, keeping it off until 5-10 min before showering, but now someone says the draw of electricity to heat up all that water is more expensive than keeping it on all day. Which is more economical?
How does saving water and saving energy protect our environment?
I know we should all play our part in conserving water and electricity but how does it affect our environment? can someone give me a summary so i can help others around me understand why they should play their role too?
How will the coming energy crisis affect the world's water supply infrastructure?
Energy in the form of electricity, diesel and natural gas is used to pump and process our raw water into clean drinking water, as well as the water we use to grow our food. Chemicals, materials and supplies for our water treatment plants and our water distribution systems are transported by truck, air and rail.
How do we know climate change is linked to CO2 in the atmosphere?
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc. The carbon footprint is a measurement of all greenhouse gases we individually produce and has units of tonnes (or kg) of carbon dioxide equivalent.
Are electric cars that much friendlier to ecology than gas cars?
With the added problems of battery disposal and the increased demand on electrical power plants to supply electricity to charge some proposed electric car models, is the net advantage to the environment still that significant?
Why do people think that electric cars will reduce air pollution?
If we’re talking about conventional electric cars that have to be plugged in, you have to consider how that electricity is being generated. The majority of power plants in this country are COAL-POWERED. If we all had electric cars, we wouldn’t have any exhaust coming out of the cars, but there would be a lot more coal being burned to generate the electricity to charge the cars’ batteries. So how does that reduce pollution?
