Any current controversies in environmental science?

Besides global warming. I need something to write a research paper with. I am a freshman undergraduate environmental science major with a rudementary understanding of the environment. Are there any controversies concerning any environmental issue besides global warming? It can be about alternative energy, ecology, anything. It needs to be specific, it cannot be a broad issue.

What is your opinion on global warming, and what are you doing to go green?

I am doing whatever I can do to go green. In fact, my girl scout troop did a badge for this. We collected a bunch of plastics and we turn them in to some random company to make a toy that they were going to going to give to charity! I just want to see some new ideas. So post an answer about what you do to go green and what you think about global warming!

If you are going to post something negative, don’t post anything at all.

Do you think there is a problem with the amount of pollution there is?

Forget the term "global warming" and everything circling it. Do you believe there is a problem with the amount of trash we produce? Do you believe there is a problem with the amount of pollution we produce?

Please follow my rules or you will be ignored (at least by me):
1. No speak of Al Gore.
2. Do not insult others.
3. Please only reply with whether you believe there is a problem; or if you think there is no problem.

How much has all this going green actually helped the planet?

Global warming is a growing problem across the world and all the smartest minds are working on how to fix it. As it last stood the average temperature increase world wide is roughly 2 degrees on average.

In the past year or so even with the depression going green has become a big thing and everyone is now starting to do it. So in this roughly year time in going green how much have we (humans) actually saved the planet or should i say slowed down the destruction of it?

Why is global warming listed under environment catagory?

Global warming belongs in the Social Science–> Religion catagory and not in the environment catagory.

With all the mass hysteria going on about global warming in the face of actual physical proof of any negative issues that will result from global warming and not just theoretical models presented by someone with a PhD, doesn’t this seem more like a religion then a science? "The end of the world is coming so join us and be saved" type of thing?

What are your thoughts? I expect there to be some flaming here, but please stay civil. Thank you.

Is the real threat from GW the billions of dollars that have been funneled away from pollution clean up?

Years and years ago(before the global cooling scare), to be Environmentally aware meant to care about the actual environment.
Such as cleaning up pollution, cleaning up litter, managing wildlife and national forests. Now it seems its about making laws that skyrocket taxes, destroy economies, restrict freedom or indoctrinate young children into this religion of global warming.

How do stricter emissions laws and anti-pollution regulations negatively effect our economy?

Whether man-made global warming is real or not. What is the precise negative of alternative energies?

How do fireworks impact the environment?

I was at a fireworks show this evening, and I started to think…. putting all of that extra fire and smoke into the air can’t be good for our whole fight against global warming.

So what DO fireworks do to the environment?

Does the government have any limitations on what can be used, and how often they can be used?

And what can those who run fireworks shows do to lessen the effects of the fireworks?

What are we doing to cause global warming, pollution, etc.?

What in the world is the planet doing to our earth?! What are we doing to cause global warming, pollution, endangered animals, etc.????
