In the Will to Improve, Li draws mostly on the Foucaultian inspired Governmentality framework.
1.First, describe this framework in detail by outlining its components, its strengths and its weaknesses.
2.Then second, use this framework to analyze the logic, goals, outcomes, processes and unintended consequences of the four-five periodes of development in Sulawesi: Colonial (“ethical period”), New Order. Reformasi, TNC, and Neoliberal.
a.Be sure to explore the ways in which programs in each of these periods feed into the next period (e.g. the way that Christian conversion during the colonial era affected differentiation and violence in the New Order period).
b.Also, in your response, be sure to draw on and define concepts employed by Li (in addition to the Governmentality concepts, such as “conduct of conduct”): capital, dispossession, trustee, simplification, government through community, etc.
3.In what ways is this book political ecology?
yes it is an essay type question
