How does the trash I throw away hurts the environment?

I never recycle. I throw away paper, soda cans, water bottles, and batteries. I use disposable plates, cups, and silverware. When? I bake stuff in the over, I use these aluminum pans that is used just once and then you toss them in the trash. I hate washing dishes Sometimes I toss out 5 or 6 bags of trash a week. I don’t think that the trash I throw away is going to harm the environment.

Recycling Do's and Don'ts?

I live down the street from a small recycling drop-off and I want to make sure I’m doing it right and I have a few questions. (It would really help if they added details at the site).

1) When I recycle plastic bottles, do I have to remove the cap? Also, do they all have to be clear bottles or can my Mountain Dew go in there too?

2) When recyling newspaper, do I have to remove the glossy 4-color ads or can those be recycled too?

3) Where can I put my soup cans? They only have a bin for soda cans and no one knows of a center that accepts soup cans.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What is up with the pollution in Central and South America?

I’ve been to Mexico several times, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. One thing that all these places have in common is that every square foot of outside ground has a piece of garbage on it: empty plastic water containers, glass bottles, empty beer and soda cans, food wrappers, paper, etc. It’s disgusting.

Each of these places is beautiful in its own way, so I can’t understand it. I don’t mean to stereotype, but why all the pollution?

What is the big deal with littering?

Its just a gum wrapper, or a piece of paper, or a coffee cup, or a couple of soda cans now and then. There is so much trash there already how is my trash going to hurt so much. In my opinion littering is no big deal.

Can I put alminum in with cans for recyling?

I was wondering if I could put aliminum foil in the same bag as soda cans for recycling down the road?

Can you make money recyling paper and plastic?

I live in Connecticut. I know you can make money with scrap metal and soda cans. What about papers? Other plastics besides soda bottles? I know I can recycle them but can I make some money by doing it? Say I bring in 500 pounds of paper will I get anything for it? What about 300 pounds of #1 & #2 plastic? Thanks in advance for any information.
