i would suggest that you will take the course that fits in you, or rather should i say, that you like most. it is your career path. environmental/wildlife protection can also be obtained after a degree you chose. hehehe. as you see, many conservationists are from different paths like engineering, medicine, etc etc. after all it is our duty to protect the environment.
biology would be the most general. try finding a program for fish and wildlife management. i went for environmental science and it was biology, chemistry, and geology mixed into one
Wildlife Biology, Environmental & Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, Parks, Recreation, & Tourism (Protected Areas Emphasis).
There are many different areas that environmentals work in, such as engineering, environmental law, wildlife research. You can always choose a specialist area in postgraduate studies if you are not sure what area you are interested in at the moment.
A science degree is usually the most common degree however if you want to work directly in conservation or widlife protection.
i go to Paul Smith’s college in Lake placid NY. they do have a wild life major and you can minor in wild life law. so if you look at schools look for something like wild life or something on those lines. if you want to become involved in wild life protection most schools for law have programs in that.
I guess science would be the better of the two but really you should be majoring in biology, zoology, wildlife biology, or wildlife management or something along those lines.
At most schools, the first two years for bio and env science majors are the same courses, so if you wanted to narrow it down, that would be the time. You could major in Environmental Science and end up going into environmental law, if you want. Usually people pick either environmental protection or wildlife protection. Bio is a good general major for wildlife protection with an organismal concentration. This means you will take classes like herpetology, mammalogy, ichthiology, ornithology, and entomology. Some schools offer a major in conservation. This really just depends on where you decide to go.
