What do you think about the people who are only doing green things for money and/or to improve their image?

Author: Like they only want to know green tips to save their money, or are recycling just to get a few bucks, or are acting green to appear better to other people.
What do you think about that?

I see nothing wrong with doing a good thing for a selfish reason. I’ve made many changes to help the environment, but ultimately I’m trying to create a healier environment for my family. I’m thrilled that doing the right thing to look good for others is what motivates people.
If we didn’t need the planet to support human life, most of us wouldn’t care what happens to it. I think everything we do is for self interest. I pay more for my energy to support clean and renewable energy, I did it to improve the air quality in my state, not because I had money I had no use for.
Look at commercials for charities, they aren’t upbeat and happy, they are sad and emote hopelessness. They marketing firms know guilt is the ticket to getting people to give. People write checks to avoid guilt, they are personally vested in the people they help. That doesn’t make their donations any less worthy.
I’ve found most people have a lot of misconceptions about what is going green, or make eco friendly choices. If I can get them to make a few simple changes that save them money they are far more likely to be open to more changes that may cost more or take an up front investment. The best thing that has happend to the green movement is the economic down turn. More people are switching off auto pilot for their purchasing and helping the environment without even knowing. Trying to save money has helped reduce demand for fuel and energy. Landfills have seen 30% in waste, families are giving up bottled water and a variety of other habits we have gotten into. What ever the cause the effect is the same. Less pollution.

Well, as long as the planet benefits, then I guess more power!

But if people do it helps the enviroment and prevents global warming. You dont want the world do die out in a explosion or something so be thankful and don’t rant about it.
i think that they are immature and should be worried about the enviroment…. but at least they’re still helping

everyone who is "green" thinks that… cause green dun just stand for the grass n the colour of the earth, it stands for the colour of cash…. thats wut i believe.

As long as they’re doing it, the reasons don’t really matter. The results is what matters.
i think those people are nieve, but if theyre helping our earth for money, at least theyre helping out earth.

Well there are two types of green people:
1. The ones who do it because they feel that they are being a good person with some value, which isn’t necessarily true. They feel as though they are doing great deeds.
2. The ones who do it so they get the support of the Number 1′s.
Why would you dwell on such a subject.

I can accept the first two reasons but, so many people are doing it for the third reason that the "green" stuff just makes me wanna puke!! God Bless you.

As long as they are being green i don’t think there is anything wrong with that. If they are recycling for money so what? at least they are recycling…ya know? but if people are JUST saying they are green just to say it and improve their image that is just unethical.
Well I think that although the motivation may be tainted, the result is good, so it’s still a good thing. I think, in fact, that we should continue to pressure and encourage green use. As long as people are doing things to help the environment they are doing a service to this earth, and it says a lot that doing green things will help your image and we should encourage that kind of attitude and behavior
That’s how our economy works, if it wasn’t for that, there wouldn’t be teachers teaching, or banks working, or anything else, people do things out of personal benefit, that’s how our economy is run.
I think that they are unconsciously shallow, in a minor way, if trying to appear better to other people and not as much for themselves. Going green to save money is a smart decision though.

Al Gore is a fraud. He flies around in his private jet to conferences where he speaks about pollution. One private jet flight is equal to you driving for a year pollution wise. "Going Green" is just a buzz word and makes a lot of money. Think for yourself and do your own research dont listen to Al Gore.
It’s kinda lame and fake if it’s just for a better image/money… but at least something good is coming out of it for the environment.
If people are making decisions to save money or too impress others does it matter really? The result is what matters, they are making decisions for the betterment of future generations. If the trend is not sustainable then there is an issue, but I do not think it will die. Children today receive environmental education unheard of when I was in school and that is supported at home more and more by parents who are concerned with the world they will leave behind.
Most people are like that. So what? You people never know when to give it a rest. Why are some of you so self-righteous?
i think it is okay until they really get out of control with it and help a little to much because they don’t need much fame in this world.
well, , , i think there’s nothing wrong about them, , i mean its their own way of dealing their lives. . . every individual is unique. . we do have different personalities, , so if they are acting like that well. . the possible reason i think. . . they are satisfied on what they were doing, that could make them happy . . .so let them explore life. . .

The act is 1/4 of the law if they do it its another 3/4 of the law but it sucks i personally have look at the cost and the pollution in the air i’ve seen its good
I think even if their intentions are not to help the environment, in some ways, they are still helping. It is better than not helping at all.

I think that all people should help each other and not do things for money.
Are not we all doing it for the money: Getting an education, working, saving, etc. What is our incentive to do anything without getting the money? Could that be our real problem? Maybe we ought be getting something other than money for our labor and resources.
People do things everyday to make money and better their image, that’s life and there is nothing wrong with that. If the planet benefits then great.
I think that anybody doing something only to make themselves look good in the eyes of others should dig a little deeper within to find what they truly care about. On another note, I would do green things to make money. Not only would the world benefit from it, but I would gain money. Sounds like killing 2 birds with 1 stone to me. Anyone doing green things is a plus.. no matter the motive. Think about it, they could be doing nothing!
