What happens if wrong item is put into a recyling bin?
Example what if glass were put into a paper bin? Would the entire batch be rendered useless for recycling and trashed? Or is there a way to remove it?

The recycling plant wil explode, leveling a twenty mile radius. This is why I refuse to recycle. That and I get to watch the faces of enviro-nazi as they cry for their false god, GAIA.
My local recycle men simply take it out and throw it on our stairs, lovely.
Well, if you don’t realize it when you put it in to your recycling bin and the people at the recycling center don’t see it, then the entire batch of what ever you are recycling is contaminated and they have to throw that entire batch away.
If no one notices it and takes it out, the batch is usually contaminated. You have to wash out all items carefully and make sure that your city/town accepts everything you are putting in the basket. Check your local municipality’s city hall website for recycling information, or stop in and ask! ^_^
Modern recycling services are called single stream recycling so there isn’t the distinction between a paper, glass, plastic or metal bin anymore. It turns out that there was too much variation from person to person in the sorting of recyclables so they had to resort them anyways hence it’s better for them to collect unsorted recyclables in order to not make the three collection trips or have multi-compartment trucks that had to return as soon as one compartment was full. The biggest problem is residue oils from food containers, if that gets in with paper to be recycled then the oils can’t be detected till the pulp doesn’t properly mat leaving holes in the recycled paper causing not just one batch of recyclables but a big batch of wood pulp to be tossed out. About the worse thing you can do is to recycle a pizza box.
When the recycling plant is sorting the plastics, aluminum and paper, if they find an object that is foreign they just through it away,
