The Dominican Republic has a tropical climate–warm and sunny. The “winter” season runs from November to April, this is when the heat becomes more tolerable. However, in some of the mountain regions ie Jarabacoa and Constanza the high temperature is only 61 degrees on average.
The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern two thirds of the island known as “Hispaniola.” It’s the second largest island in the Caribbean.
It is bordered by the Caribbean sea to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the North.
Culture–> Dominicans are very loyal to their families. It’s not unusual to find a whole family living together or near one another. They are also very friendly and typically will make you feel at home. Over 90% of Dominicans are Roman Catholic.
Clothes: They take pride in dressing. Brand name clothing from USA is favorable.
Food: A typical Dominican dish eaten at lunch is called “la bandera or la bandera dominicana” which consists of bean stew, white rice, and meat. Other things eaten are; mangu, yuca, sancocho, habichuela con dulce.
