What is the big deal with littering?

Its just a gum wrapper, or a piece of paper, or a coffee cup, or a couple of soda cans now and then. There is so much trash there already how is my trash going to hurt so much. In my opinion littering is no big deal.

you are the reasons my children and i go around picking up trash everyday. forget all the environmental reasons, how about the fact that a lot of people don’t want to look at your trash. i don’t want it littering my yard, the parks we use, the streets we drive on, the lakes and rivers, etc… so we pick it up. a better question would be
Why should i have to pick up your trash? i don’t make you pick up mine.

    You are an idiot.

  • pensk8r:

But if every person thought like that and littered one gum wrapper-Imagine how much trash that would add up to.
Every little bit helps keep our environment clean for our children and future.

Yeah, there are a heck of a lot of people like you. Every piece that’s there was put there by some thoughtless pig. What you’re saying that instead of being one of the clean guys, you’re going to join the thoughtless pigs.
Sorry, real pigs, I didn’t mean you. You’re just animals that don’t know any different.

But of course it is. If everybody keeps thinking like this nothing will ever change. And we do have to change. Try to recycle and maybe you feel good about it and others in your surroundings will follow too. Every peace of man made material will end up hurting the planet and ultimately ourselves!

  • Pink1967:

The big deal is that if everyone dropped a gum wrapper or a piece of paper on the ground then that’s over 6 BILLION pieces of trash!
American needs to relearn the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle as much and as often as you can.

Imagine that everyone felt like you – the world would be filled with trash. Rodents and bugs would be running around on city streets during rush hour. Many more deaths and illnesses would occur due to all the germs from the trash (not to mention the rodents).

If it’s no big deal, try it at home.

I’m sure your Mother won’t mind, after all, it’s only trash. Leave all your trash on the floor for a week straight.

Don’t forget to use the floor for your used toilet paper as well.

After a week, you might notice why littering is so gross. Unless your parents punish you first.

    Naughty boy!

Yes, it’s just a gum wrapper or a piece of paper. But, you are only adding to the problem by littering. Just think about the long term affects of littering, and the people who thinks it’s okay to do so. The garbage is left there for others to clean, and it also pollutes our oceans, o-zone layer, and harms our animals. It usually ends up in a landfill, which is a big problem for our air. It may not matter much to you, but it does for those who it affects. So, it’s only right to do your part and throw away your garbage, because one day it may affect you.

It goes into our streams, it can hurt fish, it can hurt wildlife. Keeping trash off streets and recycling helps keep America beautiful.

  • Big D:

You have got to be kidding. Give me your address and I will start dumping my trash in your front yard. Get the picture.

  • quizicalgal:

Don’t you want a nice, clean place to live? Don’t you want people to visit your city and comment on the cleanliness of the people there? Just imagine, if you had trash lying all around your city, no one would visit, people would get sick faster, and it’s all because your a lazy a** piece of sh**!

  • Josieb:

Littering is not good as it makes our cities look bad and unkept. One should not do this in an offensive matter and should keep the street and everything else clean like at home.

  • DrVIC:

The city we live in is our home. Do you litter your living room or your bedroom, or for that matter the driveway. We all like to live in neat and clean environment and we all need to contribute towards it. I believe in freedom (democracy) with responsibility. We owe our governments/cities for giving us roads, parks, schools, the works, and we need to pay back by taking good care of these.

Your welcome to my house for a week and pick up trash that others throw out of there cars when they pass, just for one week. I promise you will change your tune! And yes I pick it up I don’t just say oh well it’s no big deal. Littering not only looks bad, ever drove passes a yard full of stuff and say on well that looks nice..NO. It also helps bad insects to spread, causes hazards to drivers on highways and roads, it can travel in storm drains and other ways to get in our water ways and cause harm to our wildlife, it causes bacteria to grow and cigarette butts can cause fires and there are many more reasons too. So try not to litter it is a BIG DEAL!

people that think like that need to be locked down in prison for the rest of their life

If everyone put a gum wrapper on the ground, then there would be a billion gum wrappers by the end of the day and who would be responsable? Not me. Know why not? I don’t eat gum. Personally, you should always recycle or throw it away right away before it gets any worse than it is.
