What is your reaction when you see someone littering, especially from their vehicle?

Author: What can be done? Why are these people so lazy? I was behind someone on a country road recently who threw trash out their window. It enraged me so much, but I didn’t know what to do. My first instinct was to get the trash and follow them to wherever they were going (hopefully their home) and toss it at them along with some choice words.
I didn’t do that though.

I stop the car, pick up the litter and put it in the nearest bin. It does not happen very often in this area, or if it does, perhaps lots of other people do the same as me and pick it up.
I would do the same thing. People are so lazy sometimes it’s sickening. Tell them that what they’re doing is wrong and if they don’t listen, screw them!
Nothing. I mind my own business. These days you can get killed for your unwanted opinions.
I cannot believe people still do that! Yes, it makes me angry also. They only suggestion I have is to take down their license plate number. Some states have signs on the side of the roads with the fines for littering and a phone number to call to report. If you cannot find this.. then you can report ppl at this website….
I live in the inner city and this is a common occurrence. People will just throw their trash on the street without even thinking about it. Every week or so, I pick up the trash on my block.
Hopefully, others will follow my example, but I do not say anything to the people who litter because it is obvious that they do not care and the person above is correct, you could get killed for voicing unwanted opinions.

In the Netherlands the police can take your car away if you do that ,
just throwing a can out of the window ,can result in huge fines ,
It is also the governments fault for not having much harsher attitudes and the police to back that up
I hope its something of value so someone else will pick it up. Saw a guy dump a washing machine by the side of the road once. Next day someone else was there sticking it in back of his truck along with a load of other scrap metal to be returned for money.
I get very upset because it isn’t just their earth that they are polluting it is also everyone else’s and if I was able to confront the person I would have a few choice words to say to them.
Everytime I see something like that happen I always wish there had been a cop car around.

Littering is illegal, report them and let the authorities deal with it.
Littering may seem like nothing except the litter impacts the water you drink and the food you eat. UV breaks it down and who knows what kinds of chemicals it produces.
What we do on the planet comes back at us so these guys need to be educated. Some of them are really ignorant to what they are doing.
In my area we had forest fires that came into my city and we lost 248 homes. A few months after the fire I was driving through the mountains on a very bright moonlit night and I saw 3 lit cigarettes flying out of windows. Thes fools have no idea that this is how the fires start.
In my area, there is a maximum 2000 dollar fine for littering out of windows.
If we educate the younger population, problem solved.
This really annoys me too! When I go for walks I take two bags with me. One for trash that can be recycled and one for stuff that cannot be. I know some states have a way to report these people however, mine doesn’t.

Well we got the prisoners from the jail to clean up here. They do good work. But they sure aint stylin’ in day glow orange
I figure they are probably some type of celebrity or other oblivion and realize that there is probably nothing I can do to get them to think beyond their own self centered, self absorbed and self important lifestyle.
I’m so with you on this. They are the laziest people ever! I’m astonished that people do this given all that we hear about keeping the environment clean. Oh, and how about those people that chuck cigarette butts out the window. Such losers…
I hate that. They are taking perfectly good trash and throwing it in the road. It could be used to pollute our rivers instead.
