why don’t you recycle paper that is what we used to do in my old school!

Aside from setting up containers for every conceivable thing that can be recycled, maybe institute a way to collect the scrap plastics your company ‘injects’, and recycle it,as well. You can also suggest to start a recycling situation that expands into your community, sponsored by your company. Talk to the garbage companies, and see if they can work with your company to expand the idea of recycling on a county-wide or whatever area they service,senario. Talk to the schools to get the kids involved- they will involve their parents,etc. It will make the company look like a leader,as well.(and you, dear one, will start a great thing for all concerned- one isn’t born a leader,you know- they just decide to DO something, and get others involved! )

First of all, accept the challenge from your boss! Then, initiate a recycling program for all the scrap plastic that your plant must certainly end up with at the end of every work day.
Implement REuse, REturn, and REcycle programs for everything from cardboard, newspaper, plastic soda bottles, aluminum, glass, tin cans, magazines, phone books, scrap paper, steel, any anything else that’s recyclable. Invite your co-workers to bring it in from home, then deliver it to a recycling center. Even if you don’t get paid for it, you’re saving the environment. If you do get paid for some of it, use the money to host a company picnic using all recycled materials such as recycled paper plates, recycled plasticware, napkins, etc. -RKO-

Be a little bit vocal (not too much and without sounding like you are lecturing people) with your co workers, telling them the impact of not recycling their trash and educating them just a little bit every once in a while. Words can have a huge impact in making people feel more responsible

I’m glad Markmold mentioned recycling the plastic at your plant–great place to start! In addition to the other ideas posted by others, I also suggest you collect and recycle any packing materials that come in: packing "peanuts," and the solid polystyrene that is used to pack and ship items. Peanuts can be reused in your plant or taken to a shipping store for reuse (see Source below). Also, there are collection locations for the solid polystyrene (also see Source below). You might also adopt a project that allows employees to donate recyclable items: for example, a local animal shelter may need old towels and blankets for the animals, and you could post a request for such items and then deliver them (or have them picked up) for the shelter. Or a local school may need kids books or art supplies–you could collect these items and donate them to the school. Everyone has something around the house they don’t need but someone could use. By adopting projects to donate to in the community, you’ll be helping others, the company gets a good reputation, and employees know they are helping others.

I own an injection molding company and it sounds as if your doing quite well. Take a dive in the dumpster this will give you a good idea what is going out in the trash. Glass, metal, plastics, paper all recycleable. We also recyle our scap plastic and cardboard. Their may be thing that you can do yo reduce your trash.Do you use shop rags at your shop or paper towels maybe a hot air dyer for drying the hands after washing? Perhaps you could find a unique ways to reuse item that end up in the trash.

u could set up places to drop used sheets of paper that could be easily recycled. u would have to stipulate no staples and no weird kinds of paper or colored paper to make your recycling easier. i have seen people do this by stationing milk crates around, with a paper posted above them, letting people know what they are for. it is a good place to start: every little bit helps
