What's UPS's recycle policy?

I’ve asked my local UPS store several times if they recycle unwanted mail, paper and packaging. The answer is no.

Shouldn’t corporate UPS be helping their outlets with a Recyling Programme & Guidelines? That’s a lot paper we’re talking about…Open to ideas/links/thoughts about recyling junk mail, etc

Unsure about UPS but my understanding is they don’t I do know USPS has a pretty extensive program in place overall but in some areas they don’t follow it as well as others.

The recycling market is driven by the economy. When things are slow, the demand for used paper is really low because not much recycled paper is needed. I don’t think they waste that much paper or cardboard there, I use them a lot. Also, for a small operation like a UPS store, they probably do not generate enough waste to make it worth-while to recycle. After they collect it, a recycling co. has to come to pick it up. It costs the recycle co. money to send a truck (paying driver, gas, etc.) so if UPS doesn’t have a lot the recycle companies will refuse to do pickups.

The larger companies all have a recycle policy though.
