Why are pot smoking hippies in denial about damaging the ecology?

Besides the damage to forests, dangerous chemicals, and poaching of animals caused by pot growers, I bet those pot smoking hippies add to global warming and pollution with their nefarious habit. Why aren’t hippies more ashamed with the damage they do to the envirornment as well as the destruction to the community?

Most environmentalist use huge amounts of chemical fertilizers, pvc tubing, plastic bags, carbon filters, and illegal immigrants to fuel their use of so called "medicinal" marijuana. I’m so happy they do not use the "other" stuff, I could fart a gold coin. Remember, a joint is equal to about five cigarettes, but of course, it is for medicinal purposes. Go green, yay!!!

Caring for the planet does NOT = dirty pot smoking hippie living in a cave.

Virtually none of todays environmentalists will ever touch pot. you lose. try again?

People tend to compare what they are doing with the bad things others are doing and decide they are not all that bad, by comparison.

Pot smoking is not as bad as smoking tobacco, mostly because of the small amount smoked they will argue. When compared to people wh drink and inflict violence on their family and others, the pot smoker is likely to see smoking pot as quite virtuous by comparison.

Even being stoned and sleeping on the back porch gives one a sense of relative virtue compared to driving an SUV to work.

When the pot smoker thinks about the harm done in growing pot for him, he will compare his habit with eating beef and having so much harm done by flatulation of cows. Or people using a car that took so much energy to make and so much more to run.

Comparison with others, rather than absolutes is what allows most of us to do things we probably should not do. This is the same for a pot smoker.

But the pot smoker also thinks that were it not for prohibition, growing pot for one’s own use would not be a major concern for society, even if it may hurt the grower-consumer similarly as home brewed beer might.

I’ve been waiting to say this for years- to the Soup Nazi "NO SOUP FOR YOU!"

Wow, lol, you really don’t know anything. Growing pot/hemp is actually good for the environment, it helps to clean up the soil. Not only from "pot" plants do you get pot, but you can eat the seeds for food, there are all sorts of types of pot, and where I live we grow it for food, and we make clothing out of it, there is also hemp paper. Did you know the Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper?

  • Baccheus:

Wow, that’s a trip. You’re right man. It’s all new forests now. Big forests of plants. I just never saw it that way before. You’re really smart. Do you have some chips or something?

What dangerous chemicals? what poaching of animals?

It was Harry J. Anslinger (the guy who invented the buero of narcotics and made pot illegal) that said it best in the 1930′s cannabis trials:
"The real danger is that when one of the "inferior races" (blacks) consumes the devil’s plant he feels he deserves to be as good as a white….. Blacks will rise up like they did in Jamaica…"

Look up the revolution of Jamaica and the 1930′s Cannabis trials
    It’s pretty fucked up

Also laws that keep pot illegal make it worth much more money but only stop <1% of all trades involving cannabis
And all that money goes to drug dealers instead of the economy and community and make a breading ground for violent gang crimes.

The laws against pot are worse than the plant itself

Perhaps they’re bright enough to know that burning plants doesn’t contribute substantially to global warming because the CO2 released when they’re burned is taken up again when the next crop is planted. That’s the principle behind biofuels.
